Thanks so much for your interest in sonny & milla . Inspired by my four children (the first being Sonny and Milla), my label sonny & milla reflects the motive behind the desire to create this original collection. After having my first two children I found it hard to find garments that were original and effortless without too many bold prints and colours whilst still having practical and washable qualities. My label evolved from the inspiration to design a range that reflected a higher level of sophistication that is missing from the market today.
I have worked for a small clothing label once I finished university where I studied Fashion & Textile Design before becoming a mum to my son. I studied a sub major in textiles and particularly enjoyed creating my own fabrics through digital and screen printing. This label allows me to follow my love of fashion and design whilst incorporating my love for my children.
Designing from home at a beachside location on the East coast of Australia, our inspiration comes from the effortless elements of the East coast beaches – the sea, sand, rocks, sun and relaxed lifestyle – which are represented in our exclusively designed minimal prints and reflected in the simple colour palette and fading of the fabric. The collections are based on a casual nature and are completed with pieces in soft fabrics and shapes. Each sonny & milla piece is characterised by a strong sense of an effortless style, with a clearly relaxed and carefree expression. Babies and children are able to play freely in sonny & milla garments whilst feeling comfortable and looking relaxed.
We are a sustainable brand that does not use any plastic in our packaging and every item comes with a re-usable drawstring hessian bag that is perfect for the beach.
My goal is that I hope your children create beautiful memories in my pieces and precious photos to reflect on. They are only small for such a short time in our lives and I want to make each moment count. I hope your children love these clothes as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
